Personal Shoot 5 Work Record - Animation

Preparation

For this shoot I need to make sure that I have a lot of space on my camera so that I can take a lot of photos and create a good length animation.  I also need to make sure that I can get a good idea behind the photos that I am taking so that I am not stuck for ideas when it comes to actually taking them.  I already have thought of a way in which I can get a good storyline and an effective animation.

What I Hope To Achieve

For this shoot I am hoping that I am going to be able to create a well made animation with a good background story, however I am unsure about how this is going to work, due to the simplicity of the shoot itself.  When it comes to making animations, it is sometimes quite hard to make it look interesting if you don't have a very well thought out plan.  For me, I find it quite hard to thing of storylines behind shoots and I don't feel that I have enough time to actually thinking about what I am going to shoot. Even so, I have looked at some examples of animations that people on youtube have created, in hope to find some inspiration.  Here is what I found; I doubt that I will be able to create something quite as complex as these examples as a lot of time, effort and thought has gone into creating them.

What I Actually Achieved

I am not 100% happy with how this shoot turned out, due to the fact that a lot of the photos are very shaky and I didn't plan the time of day very effectively for the idea that I had in mind.  Even so, the animation still works really well and I like the overall outcome.  I think that even though the story behind it was not entirely thought out very well, you can still get a sense of the journey that is being shown which is important when creating an animation.

I created this short animation of an escalator as they were the most stable images and it made a really interesting and smooth animation.  Despite it being very short, I still think that it is quite effective and is a nice simple animation.

This was the entire animation from all of the photos that I took.  As you can see from the majority of the images, not all of them are completely focused and at the same height which takes away from the overall idea behind the animation.  If I could go back and re-do this shoot, I would make sure that the images are a lot more stable so that the continuity is better.

What I Plan To Do Next

I think that I am going to re-do this shoot so that I can get better images and create a better animation overall.  I think that it would be a good idea because the entire thing would be a lot more smooth.  Even so, the overall look of the animation is still quite good and you can get the general idea of the animation.  For my next shoot I am going to take photos of London from the top of a building so that I can put together some panoramas from the photos that I have taken.
