Personal Shoot 4 Work Record

Preparation

For this shoot I am going to use myself to take photographs of expression and emotion.  I need to make sure that I have the studio booked and that I can set up the camera and the lights so that I can get the best possible photographs of my face.  This is important so that all of the photos have the same lighting for when it comes to editing them all together.

What I Hope To Achieve

I hope that through doing this shoot I will get some good expression and emotion photographs that I can edit together to show the variation that faces give through different faces.  I think that this will be an interesting area to look at because it demonstrates really well the multiple imagery side of the human body.  Through changing the expression of the face through various types of expression, it is interesting to see how easily the face can change highlighting how multiple imagery can be seen in everyday life.  Photographs like these two are similar to what I am going to create.  Even though these photos are only showing four different faces, I am going to try and expand the amount of emotions in one image so that there is more variety.

What I Achieved

I managed to get some interesting photos that showed facial expression and emotion really well.  A lot of the images consisted of more that four images, however they still look effective and highlight the different emotions and expressions humans can connote really well.  I also decided to use myself and a different model to add more variety into the shoot which I thought was a good idea.  I also decided to not just simply put the images next to each other in a grid format, but to place individual images over one another to see the type of effect that it would give off.  The result was actually really intriguing and turned out better than I had expected.

This first image is similar to the first two images that I showed.  I think that this image in particular turned out really well because it shows how quickly the face can change, whether it be posed or natural.  It also highlights how the face can do strange things when you are put under a spotlight which I thought was an interesting area to develop.  You can see from the individual images, that some of them are posed and some of them are very natural and give off a 'caught off guard' kind of look which wasn't initially what I was going for, however I think that it has worked in my favour as it adds to the look and idea behind the image.

This was another type of expression/emotion edit that I thought turned out really well.  When I was shooting, I wanted to try the 'hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil' idea as a multiple imagery photograph.  First of all I attempted to put the three seperate images together to see if it looked more effective.  It did look quite good but I wanted to see what it looked like if I was to put the images over each other and lower the opacity so that you can see all of the individual photographs and I thought that the overall effect tat it gave off, was a lot more effective than when they were simply placed next to each other.  I am happy that I thought of this idea whilst I was shooting because the final edit has turned out really well and I am very happy with the way that it looks.

What I Plan To Do Next

For my next shoot I am going to take photos of the same places throughout the day, to show how the different places change and how the people that are in the shot change.  I also want it to demonstrate the way that the scenario changes, such as the lighting of the sky, the street lights, the environment etc.  I think that this will be a really interesting area to look into and I hope that the photos will be really unique and demonstrate what I am trying to put across.
